Google, LG, Paypal, VISA, and Worldpay in Payments this week

  • Google has announced that it is bringing together all the different ways to pay with Google, including Android Pay and Google Wallet, into a single brand, called Google Pay
  • LG has announced that it will launch LG Pay in the US during H1 2018
  • PayPal Business Debit MasterCard users have reported that the Bancorp-issued card now works with Android Pay. It is not clear whether the rollout of Google Pay, which will occur over the coming weeks, will affect this development
  • Visa and Dynamics have unveiled the Dynamics Wallet Card, a connected payment card with features including the capacity to access multiple cards and a programmable on-card display
  • KFC has launched a ‘Bitcoin Bucket’, and is inviting people to trade in their cryptocurrency for a more stable asset – fried chicken. The promotion will be available in online orders for a limited time and only in Canada
  • Worldpay has partnered with iyzico, a payments provider in Eastern Europe and Turkey, to extend its payment services into Turkey
  • Mastercard and location platform provider HERE Technologies have announced an agreement to create more connected experiences for people on-the-move, including the ability to make payments while in motion via a connected car’s dashboard
