Barclaycard Grab+Go, Square’s launch, Visa’s Verified service, Bitpay’s card in Cards and Payments

  • Barclaycard staffs are trialling a new Grab+Go app, which allows users to scan the items they want to buy and then complete their purchase with a single click
  • Square has launched its Virtual Terminal service, which enables sellers to take payments directly on their computers, in the UK. The service is free to sign-up to and charges sellers a flat 2.5% transaction fee for Visa, Mastercard and American Express card payments
  • Visa has announced an upgrade to its Verified by Visa service, to help financial institutions and merchants to better authenticate consumers and reduce fraud on transactions made via a mobile or desktop browser, app or connected device. As part of the upgrade, Visa is enhancing its systems to support 3-D Secure 2.0.
  • Bitpay has released its Visa-based prepaid debit card in 131 countries. The card allows the cardholder to convert Bitcoin into a spendable currencies such as dollars, euros or pounds on the card in a matter of minutes, according to the company
  • Worldpay has created a prototype application for HTC’s Vive VR headset to allow users immersed in a computer-generated environment to make card payments. Users can make real world contactless payments by tapping a virtual card against a terminal or entering a PIN for transactions above £30
