Paypal, Alibaba, San Francisco Federal Reserve, Safecharge and Tandem in payments this week
- PayPal has announced that customers can now use PayPal to fund an account with Acorns, the US investing platform. Also, Paypal has introduced a chat extension that allows users to create and send invoices within Facebook Messenger. In addition to that, PayPal has created six limited edition holiday digital greeting cards for PayPal’s person-to-person gifting experience with PayPal Local Selects host Leandra Medine of ‘Man Repeller’.
- Alibaba has delisted third-party consumer-loan products that charge annual interest rates above 24% from its Alipay app
- San Francisco Federal Reserve research has concluded that demand for cash continues to match or outpace GDP in all major economies bar Norway and Sweden. The study looked at cash use in 42 economies, which together account for 75% of the world’s GDP
- SafeCharge, in partnership with Camden Market, has announced the integration of WeChat Pay, making the London shopping destination the first place in the UK to offer WeChat Pay at the point of sale
- Tandem Bank has launched a cashback credit card offering 0.5% cashback on all purchases over £1
