Amex’s in Alexa, Monzo’s in Android pay, and Google’s face recognition in Card and Payments
- American Express has announced that cardholders can now use Amazon Alexa to check their account balance, review recent charges, make a payment and find out about new offers
- Monzo has announced that customers visiting a Monzo.me page on a phone or tablet that has Android Pay can make payments in less than 15 seconds with no typing required. It has also announced support for Chrome’s new Payment Request API
- Capital One has signed a deal with Spotify under which Spotify Premium customers will receive 50% of their monthly subscription cost back when they start paying with a Capital One Quicksilver or Quicksilver One card.
- Moneycorp has acquired US payments business Commonwealth Foreign Exchange
- Google has reportedly updated the code on a new version its Android Pay app to include Visual ID facial recognition
- Juniper Research has forecast that mobile payments using biometric authentication will reach $2bn in 2017, up from $600m in 2016
