ACI Worldwide, Monzo, RBR and Bank of Ireland in payments this week
- ACI Worldwide and Ovum survey has found that 55% of retailers and merchants in the EMEA region plan to increase their investment into new payment capabilities
- Monzo has added a feature to its app that allows users to share their Monzo.me link from within the Deliveroo app, enabling them to split the bill with their friends
- RBR has reported that while card numbers increased by 8%, the total number of card payments worldwide increased by 15% in 2015 to 270bn. According to the Global Payment Cards Data and Forecasts report, the number of card payments worldwide is set to rise by 55% to 417bn between 2015 and 2021
- Bank of Ireland’s global markets unit has signed a deal under which WorldFirst will provide a foreign exchange and payments service for its US customers
- Venmo is testing a free debit card is linked to users’ accounts
- Apple has replaced Touch ID with Face ID in its new iPhone X. Face ID works by projecting 30,000 invisible infrared dots when the user looks at the phone, checking the pattern against a stored image in real time. To make an in-store payment, Apple Pay users double click the button on the side of the phone, look at it and then hold it against the contactless reader
- Auriemma Consulting Group has found ‘synthetic identity theft’, in which criminals use fake personas rather than stolen identities, cost lenders $6bn in 2016
- iZettle has announced it is rolling out its invoicing service in the UK which allows businesses to issue invoices via its app. iZettle Invoice is available free of charge to all current iZettle customers using the app
